Treba Davis serves as the Stone County Circuit Clerk and Registrar. She has held the office since January 2020. The circuit clerk is an elected county official. Three deputy clerks support her work. Delana Bull, April Davis, and Angela Shockely process filings and public requests at the counter.

The office sits inside the courthouse in Wiggins. It shares the building with the Circuit Court and the county's other main offices. Staff there file new cases, log court action, collect fines, and issue marriage licenses. They also register voters and run absentee balloting. What the Circuit Clerk Does in Stone County

The circuit clerk wears several hats in Stone County. The job mixes court duty with election duty. The clerk is the official keeper of circuit court files. The same office runs the voter rolls and helps manage every county election. Free notary service is offered at the counter.

Stone County Circuit Clerk Records Online

Most Stone County circuit court records are searchable online. The court takes part in Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as MEC. The clerk states that all criminal and civil cases from 2008 to the present are available through the system. Older files may exist only on paper at the office.

How to Request a Certified Copy

A certified copy carries the clerk's seal and signature. Courts, agencies, and other states accept it as proof. A plain printout from an online docket does not carry that weight. When a record is not online, or when a certified version is needed, the request goes straight to the clerk.

The circuit clerk collects fines, court costs, and assessments after a conviction. Payment can be made three ways. Each one carries its own rule. Online payment is the quickest, though it adds a processor fee.

Stone County Circuit Clerk Fees

Fees at the circuit clerk's office depend on the service. Marriage and certified marriage records have set fees. A general per-page court copy fee was not published, so the office should be called for copy and certification costs. The amounts below come from the clerk's own forms and the state code.

The $17.00 certified marriage fee is set by Mississippi Code Section 25-7-13(2)(j). A marriage search covers a five-year window and includes a certified copy if a record is found. Plan for the extra $5.00 charge on each added copy ordered at the same time.

Voter Registration and Elections in Stone County

The circuit clerk doubles as the Stone County Registrar. That role puts elections at the center of the job. The office registers new voters, updates the rolls, and runs absentee balloting before each election. It also helps manage polling when election day arrives.

The Stone County Chancery Clerk's Role

Stone County splits its clerk duties between two elected officials. The Chancery Clerk is the other half. Samuel Tom Smith holds that office. He is the clerk of the Chancery Court and the county's public recorder. His office handles a very different stack of records than the circuit clerk.

The chancery clerk records deeds, mortgages, construction and tax liens, lis pendens, and military discharges. Note: Deeds, mortgages, estates, and divorce files belong to the chancery clerk, so a request for those records should not go to the circuit clerk.
